Job Summary:

The Biomedical Technician III is required to perform and / or supervise subordinate Technicians in the installation, calibration, inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of biomedical and related technical equipment.

The Biomedical Technician III applies electrical, electronic, mechanical, chemical, optical, and other engineering principles to perform maintenance, service, repairs and overhaul of all medical equipment and medical systems. Examples of equipment may include imaging, haemodialysis, physiological monitoring systems; ECGs; lasers, sterilizers, dental equipment, and may have developed specialized areas of competence e.g. Medical Imaging, Sterilization, Labs, Anaesthesia, Ventilation, etc.

The Biomedical Technician III is required to be fully knowledgeable in the theory of operation, the underlying physiological principles, and the safe clinical application of biomedical equipment in some major areas of clinical equipment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Advanced Diploma (Associates’ Degree) in Biomedical, Mechanical, Electronic or Electrical Engineering.
  • BSc. Degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, Electronic or Electrical Engineering would be an asset.
  • At least 6 – 8 years on-the- job training in maintenance of medical and / or electronic equipment.
